Human rights has always been a topic for discussion in the Middle East especially in recent years. In response to government protests many Middle Eastern countries are violating human rights. The major human right that is being violated by these countries is freedom of speech. The article mentions how over 2,500 people in Bahrain lost their jobs and some of which were arrested because they protested their government. Since March in Syria, 2,200 people have been murdered due to the governments no tolerance for protesters. Also people are being violated while held in prison. In Syria about 52 of 88 prisoners should signs torment. Some of which were mutilated and sent back to their families to set an example. In Egypt, where the military is now running the country, the army has been accused of torturing prisoners. Civilians who question the army are arrested; adding to the highest number of citizens judged before a military court. It has been estimated that 12,000 civilians have been convicted in military courts.
Being a citizen of the United states, could you imagine being arrested, tortured, and maybe even killed all for expressing your political views?

Ultimately no, I could not imagine living in a society where the protests and ability to have a public voice is silenced by fear and violence. However, I have complete respect for those that hold their beliefs so dear to them that they are willing to go through such hardships simply for voicing the opinions they hold.
